Braces Need Consistent Adjustments to Fully Correct Teeth Alignment

Your new braces represent a significant investment in correcting the alignment of your teeth for a more appealing smile and a healthier mouth. This is done through a process of routine adjustments. Each of these appointments will tighten your braces to stretch the periodontal ligaments anchoring each of your teeth in its dental socket.

The realignment process also relies on consistency in the timing of each adjustment. Dr. Aaron Miyai typically tries to schedule each adjustment at four to six weeks apart. If you know of an upcoming scheduling conflict, you should contact Dr. Aaron Miyai’s orthodontic clinic to set up an alternative time.

Each of your adjustment appointments is also an opportunity to replace or repair any braces components that has suffered a little wear and tear. If you’ve noticed a problem with some part of your braces, be sure to let Dr. Aaron Miyai at the start of the appointment.

Maintaining good oral hygiene throughout the alignment process is also very important. Cavities that develop on one or more of your teeth can increase the total duration of the alignment process. If you’ve been having trouble cleaning a specific area Dr. Aaron Miyai can give you further advice.

If you’ve had braces installed at Dr. Aaron Miyai’s orthodontic clinic, contact us to schedule a new adjustment appointment at one of our convenient Hawaii Smile Designs locations.
